this week we...
oh, this week.
monday, my wonderful friend fallon came to the rescue and invited me over to her house for dinner. she has a little boy ella's age and another friend stopped by with her son too so we just let the kids run a muck while we got our girl talk on.
tuesday, my great friend, crystal invited us over along with some other girls, and she made us some amazing homemade granola bars. their husbands are in communications school so they arrived later that day and i couldn't believe how sad it made me seeing them in their uniform. lincoln and ella both ran up to them and gave them a hug and played with them and then lincoln kept asking me about "daddy." it broke my heart and even i was trying not to tear up. i was in no mood for making dinner, so on our way home we stopped by mcdonalds.
wednesday night, a few of us IOC wives got together at sarah's house for a potluck. (that's 3 days now of me not having to cook dinner)! it was great getting to know some new people and realizing how lucky i am to be a part of this tight marine corps family.
throughout those few days i managed to washed 4 loads of laundry (i said wash, not put away), i cleaned the kitchen over and over and over again, my visiting teachers came by, i shampooed the carpet (thanks shannon!), lincoln drew all over our door with sharpie, i ate ice cream straight out of the carton, and i made an IOC count down for chris.
thursday finally came around and i knew i would get to see my love again. that night was the spouses orientation and they were going to release chris just in time for him to come home and watch the kids so i could leave. (i ordered pizza for him and the kids - i could ruin my running streak of not making dinner)! it was a bummer only seeing him for a second and i came home pretty late so we didn't get to hang out long at all. he had work super early on friday and got home late that night, and on top of that, he's been working on an order all weekend long.
on saturday we squeezed in some family time at the mall play place and then went to the olive garden for dinner. (i made it this whole week without having to make dinner)! we spent all sunday in our pjs laying around together and watched conference. i love lazy days. it is sonice having our family complete at home.

congrats on not having to cook dinner! and making it through the week. You'll get better at being alone, the Marine Corps will give you plenty of practice and it will make your marriage a million times better than if Chris had a 9-5 job and was home all the time. I hope you get more sleep, it's more important than house work. ;)
